What I Will Say.

Thursday, January 14, 2010

With everything going on in the world, I find it hard to blog about anything.

So, at least for today, I will not write about dresses or nights out on the town. I will not write about next weekend (or even last weekend). I will not write about pop stars or embarrassing stories from my past.

There are no words to express the suffering in Haiti right now. Nothing I can type onto my screen to make it better. What I will say is this: I am sorry the world can sometimes be so unbearable. What I will say is this: I may not be terribly religious, but I will pray.

What I will do is pull my loved ones a little closer and hope that you do too.

If you can help in any way, please do. You can find a list of charities to choose from here.

  2. It is so sad, these days are days to make something good for the world, whatever that means.

  3. I've been feeling the same way...seems so irrelevant to talk about shoes I want or photography I love when so much suffering is occuring right now.

    Well said.

  4. I felt the same way. I sat there staring at a blank post draft going, "What can I even say right now?" The best I could do was about what you're doing, encourage people to help in whatever way they can. I wish I could do more.

  5. Yes, it seems so overwhelming right now. And it will be many months before the people of Haiti will be able to start putting the pieces of their lives back together. But I love your decision to pour out your love to the people around you.

Living in SF I have lots of friends who were denied love by Prop 8. And now with the trial, there is a lot of fear, anticipation, hope - a myriad of emotions. If I can't go to Haiti and hug a survivor of physical trauma then I will stay here and hug a survivor of emotional and social trauma. Thanks for that inspiration!

  7. I donated to Doctors without Borders, an organization I know I can believe in. I only gave $35, but I figure every little bit helps.
