Misc March Magic.
{And a Winner!}

Let me start off by saying, I heart March. To me, this month is all about new beginnings. This primarily has to do with the fact that my birthday is planted right in the middle (March 16th, yo) of the flower garden that is this month and birthdays are perfect opportunities for rebirth. (Wow, I haven't even had coffee yet. Where exactly did that sentence come from?) It also means that spring is coming and almost nothing makes me happier than that. Back when I lived in Seattle this meant that in a very long two months, the sun might actually show it's face. Here in Vegas, however, the arrival of spring means it's time to hit the pools because warm weather has landed. I absolutely can't wait.

And now for the randomness that is this post...

Autumn Vegas.

My love affair with my friend Autumn Vegas has continued into the month of March. You may remember that I mentioned Ms. Vegas broke her foot back in January. Although I'm sorry my friend has been housebound and in pain, I gotta tell you, it's only brought us closer. You know that point in a friendship where you start coming over without your hair brushed and you just let the real you hang out (even over the too tight of pants you're wearing)? Yep. We've hit that place and I love it. We've had more slumber parties than I can count, her dog is my official surrogate Las Vegas nephew and she has become my partner in crime, the Samantha to my Carrie and my very best friend in my new city. I am quite convinced I'd be on a plane back home without her.

(I should add here that I met Autumn randomly a year ago at our favorite bar, The Griffin. She and her friend - and now mine - Ana were sharing a couch with Jenner and me. A girl came up to me and said some less than nice things and I turned to Autumn and said, "Can you pretend to be my friend? I need some girl support." She's pretty much been giving me that support ever since.)

Birthday Party Planning.

I made this picture for my upcoming birthday party invite and it's pretty much my favorite thing. Ever. One week from today, a few friends and I will be gathering at The Golden Nugget for my birthday party. Yesterday, Autumn, Fred (of the now infamous pole dancing photo) and I went shopping at Party City for birthday props. Props, you ask? Oh, yeah. Glasses, hats, moustaches, etc. And an inflatable palm tree for the bathroom. You know, just the necessities.

I'm pretty sure half the fun was in the shopping. Pushing around Autumn in the cart while trying on everything in the store made for a pretty fun Sunday.

My Best Friend Rocks.

A couple of weeks ago, my best friend made me this "calling card" for my blog. When I was in Cali, I handed it out to the ladies at the blog meet-up. They oohed and ahhed at Carina's creativity and I was a proud, beaming bff.

She also made me this button. Hooray! I'd be fantastically honored if you wanted to put it on your sidebar. You know, as an early birthday present. :)

In nine days, I will be back home for a little trip. My mom. My sisters. My nephews. There are no words to express my excitement. Sometimes a gal just has to go home to breathe.

Giveaway Winner.

A big thanks to all of you who entered my giveaway. I never (ever) win at these, but I'm very excited to announce my winner. Drum roll... Heather Taylor at (the very cool) The Dream Machine. Congratulations! Be sure to email me your address at kathleenparker.b@gmail.com.

Happy Monday, everybody! Gossip Girl is (finally) back tonight and I think that may be a sign it's going to be a great week. Xoxo!

  1. Yeah! I get to be the first comment! I love you soooo much and I don't know what I would do without you in my time of broken-ness or my life period! Everything happens for a reason, and maybe i broke my leg so we could become closer! The party city outing was by far one of the funnest times I have had in a LONG time! My dearest duchess carrie, I love your "blob" and it brings a smile to my face everytime (even the occassional tear). Keep up the good work!
